Hello Reader,
For a while now I have been carrying a question. In May I finally said it out loud, on a stage in Lagos, Portugal.
The talk is called The Radical Question: Stop Looking for Answers. It's live now.
Here's the short version of what I said.
We are trained early to move fast and be certain, to find the one right answer and hold it up like proof. That serves us well most days. It fails at the doorways that actually change a life. A diagnosis. A reinvention. A leadership transition. The quiet unraveling no one around you can see.
You do not cross those with certainty. You cross them with a question.
Not the tidy ones. It's the one you have been avoiding. What wants to end, and what wants to begin? What would be true if you stopped performing strength? What are you pretending you do not know? What would love do?
Questions like these do not hand you a map with step by step directions. Instead you get a compass pointing the way to the answer, and then the harder work, staying in the not-knowing long enough to hear what is actually there.
That is where something new begins.
If the talk names something you are standing inside of, that is where my work lives. The nearest door is my Substack, Between Root and Sky. Essays, poems, and audio from the Algarve, free.
If you want to go further: Write Your Healing Story, my one day retreat in the Algarve for those exploring their personal life story and Becoming Limitless, my signature, curated one-to-one retreat digs deep into the questions that visit you in quiet, unsure moments.
And I mentor a small number of writers through the difficult questions awaiting answers in the memoir they have been carrying.

No rush. The door stays open.
