Between Root and Sky

We live suspended between what grounds us and what calls us upward, held by earth while longing for flight, shaped by attachment while learning to let go.

These poems trace that territory. They begin at thresholds where we form our deepest bonds with lovers, landscape, and the women who taught us how to belong and thrive. But life demands we walk through the unraveling, standing in grief’s darkness without knowing what will remain. Here, loss becomes teacher, dreams open unexpected doors, and nature shows us how to endure.

What emerges is not triumph, but integration. We return carrying our losses as carefully as our loves, understanding that courage only appears when fear is present, that we are both mortal and infinite, rooted and reaching.

Between Root and Sky maps the passage from attachment through dissolution to return, honoring what it means to be fully human; breakable and resilient, earthbound and transcendent, forever moving between root and sky.
